C-TEC Coating
Less Wear. More Performance.
Modern manufacturing processes often require hard-coated band saw blades to increase performance, blade life, and efficiency.
Technical Benefits:
- High wear resistance protects the cutting edges from abrasive wear.
- Extreme surface hardness increases resistance to tooth breaking.
- High oxidation resistance protects the teeth at high cutting speeds.
- The extremely smooth coating surface reduces frictional heat, improves chip removing, and prevents soft, adhesive materials from sticking to the cutting edges, helping to avoid cold welding.
Economic Benefits:
- Longer band saw blade life due to reduced tooth wear.
- Shorter cycle times through higher cutting speeds.
- Less machine downtime due to fewer blade changes.
- Ideal for sawing with minimum quantity lubrication (MQL) or for dry cutting.
What´s Behind the Coating:
- PVD coating (Physical Vapour Deposition)
- Coating temperature below 500°C.
- PVD processes take place under high vacuum. Coating materials such as aluminum and titanium are vaporized and, with the addition of reactive gases such as nitrogen, form a thin, hard, and strongly adherent layer on the tool surface. One example is AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride).
